Our Client is part of a group of companies supplying a range of tactical products to the MoD and other related military organisations. In support of their strategic and successful market position, they are seeking a Head of Sales and Business Development to continue their focus within the UK and European markets.

Requirements
The successful candidate will primarily be required to: - Meet order intake targets and develop a strategy to significantly grow the business for both new development programme opportunities and Post Design Services. - Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Programmes and Engineering teams to coordinate bid strategies and optimise business-winning opportunities. - Coordinate costing inputs, liaising with Engineering and Programmes Heads in order to challenge costs. - Develop an understanding of competitors and develop strategies to differentiate the offer. - Develop relationships with the MoD including front line commands, DE&S and Capability Managers. - Manage key customers obtaining feedback on business performance, identifying opportunities and generating capture plans for significant prospects. - Provide support to our Clients Group export strategy. - Manage Business Development and Commercial teams, setting objectives, monitoring performance and providing guidance and support as required. - Work with the MD and Head of Finance to develop the 5-year business plan.

Further information
With travel in the UK and Europe, the ideal candidate will have direct experience working in a sales and business development capacity with a technical/engineering bias. Furthermore, the successful candidates will be/have: - A team player with the ability to deal confidently and professionally with both internal colleagues and external customers at all levels. - Able to contribute positively to the business improvement process. - A proven track record in selling high value products to the defence/military industry - A good understanding of the CADMID cycle and MoD procurement process. - Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the decision-making processes within the MoD Defence Equipment and Support Group. - An excellent communicator and ability to run senior level meetings. - The ability to manage and motivate a team of commercial and sales professionals. - A demonstrable knowledge at Intermediate/Advanced level in Microsoft suite of IT products.
